Zunaid Ahmed Palak

1980

Zunaid Ahmed Palak was born on May 17, 1980 at Singra, Natore. Faiz Uddin Ahmed (Late) and Ms. Zamila Ahmed gave birth to this boy who later became their pride. Among his five brothers and sisters Palak was the youngest one. His father was active in politics and largely inspired by the ideology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

1994

At the age of 14 when Palak was in class VI, he formed a club name "Durdom" (indomitable), later this club turned into a center of sports and socio-cultural activities for local children. He was greatly inspired by the scouting movement of Robert Baden-Powell during his school life. He participated in 1st Asia Pacific Jamboree held in Mouchak, Gazipur in 1994 as a team leader.

1995

Palak completed his high school study from Singra Damdama Pilot School and College. He successfully passed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in 1995 with a brilliant result.

1997

After finishing his high school from Singra Damdama Pilot School in 1995, Palak got admitted in Rajshahi Government College to finish his higher secondary. In 1997 he successfully achieved his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) under Rajshahi Board.

1999

Zunaid Ahmed Palak’s political instinct started to show it’s character here in Singra in 1999. In this year Palak was elected as the Vice President of Singra Student Union for the first time in his life. Later in the same year Palak became the General Secretary of Bangladesh Student League of Gol-E-Afroz Govt. College, Singra branch.

2008

The long journey with Bangladesh Student League during the days in Singra gives Palak the opportunity to get close to it’s people. Finally in 2008, the dream came true. He got a nomination for the National Election. He also got elected as the Member of Parliament from the Singra-3 constituency area with large support. And became the Youngest Member of the Parliament in the history of Bangladesh.

2009

2009 is the year of recognition for Zunaid Ahmed Palak. With the succession of winning the election in 2008, he became the Member of Awami League, Natore District. In the same year he became the General Secretary of Singra Upazila Awami League. He also became the President of Bangladesh Carrom Federation. And by the end of 2009 Palak became the Vice Chair of All party parliamentary group (APPG) on climate change and elected as a Member of ICT Parliamentary Standing Committee.

2010

In 2010 Palak became an Advocate of Bangladesh Supreme Court. Later in this year he was selected as a Member of the Private Members Bill Parliamentary Standing Committee. He was also promoted to the President of International Carrom Federation in the same year. And by the end of 2010 year Palak won the National Award on Environment handed over by the Honourable Prime Minister in recognition of his role on large scale tree plantation movement.

2012

In 2012 Zunaid Ahmed Palak became the Member of the Executive Committee of central Awami League. It was his 5th year as the Member of Parliament and his continuous effort for the people made him deservable of this honor.

2014

In the National Election held on 5 January 2014, Zunaid Ahmed Palak contested in a participatory election and got elected as the Member of Parliament for the second consecutive term with overwhelming support from the people of his constituency. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina included him in her Cabinet and he was sworn in as a Minister of State on 12 January 2014 at the age of 33 years and 8 months and became the Youngest member of the Cabinet of Bangladesh.

2016

2016 is the year of Global recognition. By contributing in major achievement especially in ICT, Palak was already popular among the young generation of the country. It was then just a call away from a reward. In this year Palak was nominated as the ‘Young Global Leader’ by the global economic forum.

2018

By the year of 2018, Palak has already passed 10 years as a Member of Parliament and gained popularity. He was also awarded both locally and internationally for his outstanding performance in service. In 2018 Palak got enlisted in the ‘100 Most Influential People in Digital Government’ - a list made by the prestigious global organisation called Apolitical.

2019

2019 is almost like a culmination of Palak’s career. His hard work and dedication within the cabinet made him the man of the topic. The Honorable Prime Minister must have been very satisfied with what he has done for his Party. The cabinet offered him to be the ‘State Minister’ for the Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry.
